ARTDECO

June 8, 2015

"ARTDECO explicitly declines animal testing.

Since its foundation ARTDECO has neither carried out nor commissioned any animal tests. Animal testing for decorative cosmetic products has been prohibited under the German Animal Welfare Act since 1986. Tests on animals for all cosmetic finished products have been banned since 1998. A corresponding ban has been in place since March 2011 for cosmetic raw materials as well, which ARTDECO expressly welcomes! Pursuant to this legislation, raw materials developed for use in cosmetics may no longer be tested for compatibility on animals. ARTDECO specifically requests confirmation of its suppliers that no animal tests were carried out. The skin compatibility of ARTDECO products is tested by volunteers in a renowned dermatological clinic. Therefore ARTDECO products can officially be declared as ‘clinically tested’. The application or patch tests (epicutaneous tests) are carried out by voluntary test persons to determine the local tolerance of the products.

ARTDECO is against animal testing.

What comes to your question regarding vegan friendly options we have to inform you that with ARTDECO there is no product line which is rewarded as vegan. Therefore we do not keep any lists with vegan products."

Everything here looks good, however they haven't mentioned China and if they test when required by law. I have requested that clarification and will update when I receive it.

    1. Hi Cathy, thanks for your blog. I've been searching information about ARTDECO and I found that that sell their products in China, what do you think?

    2. Hi Akiko, thank you for reading my blog. I hope it's helpful to you. China is one thing that ARTDECO didn't reply to me about, and when I asked for clarification I received no response. Because of that they were on my gray list. If they sell in China, there's probably some sort of animal testing going on and I wouldn't feel comfortable using their products. Would you mind sharing the source of where you found that they sell in China?

    1. No, they don't carry any vegan lines as stated in their response:
