Dior

December 14, 2013

"Our principal mission and our duty: to guarantee safe, high quality products for our consumers. Committed to upholding consumer’s confidence in its products, the LVMH group has always endeavoured to supply products of consistently high, impeccable quality.
Thus, the products we develop comply with the strictest legislations throughout the world, whilst also meeting our internal development criteria and the most stringent quality, traceability and safety constraints. This dual requisite guarantees the product’s safety for the consumer.
LVMH holds customer satisfaction at heart and our foremost priority is to ensure the safety of products which are placed on the market. The Group complies with all regulations currently in force. Therefore, Parfums Christian Dior has stopped carrying out tests on animals for products placed on the EU market.
The LVMH Group is one of the few Perfumes and Cosmetics groups investing in the international validation of alternative methods and to have set up an " in vitro Toxicology department " for the testing of raw materials and ingredients "in house ". Thus, the group plays a leading role in the development of alternative methods and is involved in, for instance, the "Fund for Alternatives to Animal Testing" in the United States and the "Opal" programme in France.
Parfums Christian Dior exports its products worldwide. To date, there is no harmonization of risk assessment methods and different regulatory regimes coexist in the world in terms of animal testing. In China, the authorities require us to make our products available to be tested in accredited laboratories of State for registration of products.
Furthermore, concerning the presence of animal derived ingredients in our products, LVMH’s policy regarding this sensitive issue is very clear and simple: the ban of all animal extracts as cosmetic ingredients.

Our goal is the protection of consumer’s safety which relies on our products, taking into account the respect of animal life.
We ensure the absence of animal derivatives, to the exception of the following: carmine, honey, royal jelly, beeswax, lanolin milk, fish and their derivatives. For lanoline, milk and their derivatives, a certificate of origin is mandatory. Lanoline and derivatives, however, are avoided to the most. "

I'm very upset to say that Dior makes cosmetics available for testing in China. However, I respect the company a lot for being so transparent with the customer.
